Kara Bennit

Director of Coaches. Kara is a strength and condition specialist and the owner of Arrow CrossFit in La Verne. She has been an affiliate, owner, and coach for over seven years. During this time she has trained hundreds of men, women, and children. Her accomplishments include placing in the top 100 (out of thousands) numerous times for the Southern California region in the CrossFit Open, including once competing while 6 months pregnant.

Her training experience is not limited to CrossFit. Additional areas of expertise include strength, condition, Olympic lifting, as well as movement and mobility. As a mother of two young boys, Kara is in tune with the needs and requirements of working with and training youth as well as adult athletes.

Coco La Salle

Coco spent her childhood doing competitive gymnastics, martial arts, track and field, and cheer (as captain). While in college, she trained for marathons, fell in love with yoga, and started training for her first NPC bikini competition. But she realized that none of these were feeding her need for athletic competitiveness. Until one day she saw some people running around flipping tires and grunting loudly as they hoisted weight over their heads. That was the day she knew she had to do what they were doing. She has been doing CrossFit for 2 years now and hasn’t looked back since. She is addicted to that feeling of empowerment after crushing a WOD or PR’ing a lift.

Michael Brooks

Michael Brooks, also known as @_thefitbarista, started CrossFit 4 years ago and it has been his passion to coach and build confidence in the people he trains. He loves competing and seeing how high and far he can push his own limits (and “with the addition of coffee, anything is possible!”). He is excited to be at Arrow, the place where he started his own CrossFit journey, and he carries out his excitement to the members he works out with and coaches. His motto is “Let’s get fit!”

Thomas McCoy

Our newest addition to the Arrow team, Thomas has been CrossFitting for three years. He grew up playing all kinds of sports, primarily baseball. As he progressed in CrossFit, he wanted to grow and learn more about the movements, so en enrolled the L1 CrossFit Certification program.

You may have seen Thomas around the past few weeks helping out and if you haven’t met him yet, make sure you say hello! He is a great addition to our team and we are happy to have him!

 

Nick Jeffers

Nick has experience as an Infantry Soldier in the United States Army where he has trained in hand-to-hand combat and extreme workouts in sub-zero weather. He was deployed to Iraq from February 2004 through February 2005. He is former baseball player who coached high school baseball to a top 5 team in the nation. Nick’s passion is coaching. He says “I would rather see the member succeed and grow rather than myself.” Nick has been training at CrossFit Brit for the last year and, as a true member of the Brit crew, he is always willing to help anyone at anytime.

Terry Russo

From a young age Terry developed a love for sports and thrived on the competition and team camaraderie. This love of sports and completion developed into a life style where he went on to play 9 years of club soccer and letter for 3 years in High School Football, Basketball and Baseball. At the end of his playing career, he went on to coach several years of Youth Soccer, baseball and High School Football.

After several years of not working out consistently, he was introduced to CrossFit through his father, a Level 2 Trainer and lifelong fitness trainer and Physical Therapist. After about three years of resistance, he finally broke down and tried CrossFit for the

first time at Arrow CrossFit in December of 2012, where he was initiated with the WOD “Fight Gone Bad”. From that day he was hooked and became a part of the Arrow family. He immediately began setting and meeting goals and was amazed how quickly he saw results. From the beginning, he realized there was something special about this community. He loves the people and friendly competitions and encouragement to succeed and get better that is found within the walls of a box.

Mandy Hollingsworth

Mandy has spent her entire life playing sports such as: soccer, basketball, volleyball and competitive cheerleading. Once she graduated high school and her sports came to a halt, she started working out at 24Hr Fitness, but when things weren’t going how she planned, she decided to try CrossFit. She fell in love and has been a continuous member since May of 2011. After training with us for a few years and doing numerous competitions, she received her CrossFit Level 1 Certification in October of 2013 and has been coaching for us ever since. She graduated from the University of La Verne with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology-Health and Human Performance, and an Associates Degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences and is striving to become a Registered Sports Dietitian. She had been on the university’s weightlifting team since February of 2014 and has lifted competitively since. She loves what she does and hopes to give everyone the best CrossFit experience!

Dena Cantone

Dena started exercising in July 2011 with running and going to a global gym. In that year, she did not see any physical change. She could not figure out what she was doing wrong, but just knew she needed something more, something different. Dena had heard about CrossFit through a friend and went to try it out. She remembered coming home after the foundations class thinking, “this isn’t for me, I’m too old for this.” However, she told herself that she would give it a few months and that went from two days a week, to three days a week, and now five days a week. Dena started seeing results and she was instantly hooked! She realized the strength and conditioning training she gained during her workouts made a huge impact on her overall fitness goals.

Fast forward two years later to October 2013…Dena was stronger, in better shape, competed in local CrossFit competitions and made the jump into the coaching realm.

Dena is now in her mid 40’s with 3 children and 2 grandchildren. She never has felt better and she loves that her body is able to do things she never thought was possible. Her only regret…”I didn’t start sooner.” She truly loves helping people and being a part of their journey to a better and healthier lifestyle. She hopes more people her age would come try it out & see the difference CrossFit makes. “It’s not just for young people…it is truly for everyone.”

Jason Crawford

I never realized how passionate I was about youth sports until my own son started competing in his chosen sport of baseball. As a parent there is no greater joy than watching your child set a goal and work hard to achieve that goal. Watching him work hard and chase his dreams, encouraged me to get off the couch and chase mine. It’s my personal goal to help as many kids (and adults) become the best possible athlete they can be…. And have fun in the process.

Jason’s background includes Director of Operations for Arrow Sports Center. Most of his youth sports days were spent playing baseball, soccer, and basketball. It wasn’t until high school that he discovered his passion for the sport of football where he quickly excelled earning the honors of First Team All-League.

After high school Jason attended Azusa Pacific University where he played football and went on to earn both bachelors and master’s degrees from APU. Although his studies

were in the field of business, biology, human anatomy, kinesiology, and microbiology were chosen as elective courses as he was intrigued by the workings of the human body – specifically the athlete. His passion for athletic training continues today; coaching at Arrow CrossFit.

Jason not only works with kids and young adults, but he also personally trains adults. In his 40’s, Jason currently competes in CrossFit competitions and has set his sights at participating in the 2017 Reebok CrossFit GamesTM in the Masters division. He is very in tune with the needs and different training styles required of an aging or “mature” athlete.
